It would be really, really nice if scientists can de-allergize peanuts.
"Scientists at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University say they've found a way to deactivate peanut allergens in the lab."
Having a kid in the classroom with peanut allergies is scary business--for teachers and parents. A lot of food flows into a classroom from everywhere--other kids, the school cafeteria, snacks--and to keep up with all of that can be stressful because the consequences can be so severe.
Scientists say "it would likely be several years before a so called safe peanut hit the market."
Faster, please.

When did this peanut allergy craze start? I'm 47 years old and have never heard of peanut allergies until recently. I never knew one person, and still don't, who was allergic to peanuts. Now it seems every other kid has a peanut allergy. Hmm, I wonder if there's a connection between this and so-call "Attention Deficit Disorder", which in my opinion is a made up excuse for bad behavior.
I made airline reservations today to attend a wedding out of state and there is a pull-down menu for specialized menus on the airplane.
Peanut free is one choice. So is gluten free.
Of course, I'm allergic to all airline food.
